Wednesday, Sep 12, 2018 – Sunday, Sep 30, 2018

9:00am – 7:30pm

Roadshow of workshop events across the Far West region

Purpose:                                To re-engage with rural businesses, particularly agriculture businesses, and offer support where it is required for the mental health and business health of remote regional communities.

Sponsors:                              NSW Department of Industry – Business Connect and the RFDS

The program name:         “Are you OK and is Your Business OK”

What is the need:           Running your own business can be hugely rewarding, but for many small business owners having sole responsibility for the company’s success or failure can exact a toll.

While it can be tempting to focus all of your time and attention on your business, it’s also essential that you take care of yourself. As an employing small business owner or sole trader, you can face a range of unique challenges that can affect your mental health and the mental health of your staff.

Remote businesses struggle for services, and many issues confronting them daily, and the lack of others to talk to and bounce issues off, can create undue stress. This program will offer three levels of help: Mental Health, business health and financial advice.

The program:                     The program would run as a seminar on Stress and the signs of mental health when you are under stress, plus Business succession /business planning processes and Small business HR 101’s, that can be a part of the everyday stress. The aim is to relieve/clarify manageable issues that lead to mental stresses.

Presentations will be followed by a BBQ and entertainment, with the ability for attendees to book a one on one discussion with either, or both, the mental health practitioner or the business advisor. The 1 on 1 sessions will be delivered the next morning or after the seminar, whichever works best for the participants.
